MH Ethanol
MH ETHANOL Co., Ltd., formerly Muhak Alcohol Co., Ltd., is registered in Korea and is engaged in the production of alcohol from cassava for use in the production of distilled liquor, food additives, biofuel for autos, medicines and other related products.
It also provides dried feeds for livestock, and carbonic acid gas for use in welding. During the year ended 31 December 2007, the company had an annual production capacity of 182,500 drums of alcohol, but its output was only 148,907 drums.
MH first came to our attention in September 2008. They had just opened an ethanol production plant near Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The problem was that thousands of fish in a lake right next to the new MH plant suddenly started dying.
The villagers used to drink water from the lake. Nowadays they have to buy bottled water which contributes significantly to CO2 emissions and climate change.
